Bill Maher: Conservative politics

Canada's Conservative party in some ways is left of the US Democrats - Democrat Obama has still not voiced approval of gay marriage yet in Canada it's quite legal and Canada's Stephen Harper has said he will not re-visit the issue of gay marriage nor for that matter abortion which is also quite legal. Americans can be excused for thinking that the Canadian Conservative party policies are like the Republican's because people like Bill Maher call Tea Party extremists "Conservatives". No-one in Canada would elect a single political candidate if they looked like they might discontinue the Canadian Health system yet US "Conservatives" republicans want to repeal the timid steps forward that Obama initiated. Simply put: Canadian Conservatives (that's upper case "C" not "c") think the same as American liberals.
But you have to see Bill Maher tell it his way - he can be biting in his criticism yet make it funny. One of his comments was that Television is the reason that over the past 5 years public opinion has changed so that close to a majority of Americans now support gay marriage. I think TV is only part of it - another big part is the Internet.
