Critic of Islam to be deported from Spain

Imran Firasat is from Pakistan but risked his life and left Islam - he is no longer a Muslim.  To escape death, he moved to Spain where he runs a web site. Further, he is on a campaign to criticise Islam - he started with some cartoons (sample below), created a web site which is in both Spanish and English and promoted the controversial movie Innocence of Muslims.  The web site also lists 10 reasons why Muhammad was a false prophet (Cobourg Atheist article here). Not content with that, he co-produced a 70min movie The Innocent Prophet that described why he thought Islam to be wrong - why people would be crazy to believe what is in the Qur'an.  But he is not a Spanish citizen - he was admitted into Spain as a refugee.  So when he announced his plans to release the movie, he was told he could lose his status and be deported back to Pakistan where he would face a certain death penalty for openly leaving and criticizing Islam under Pakistan's blasphemy Law (295-C).  He therefore withdrew his name from the movie but meanwhile, co-producer Pastor Terry Jones released it in the U.S. on You-Tube.

The Muslims in Europe - including Spain - are a strong lobby group and the Spanish Government was afraid they would protest, riot and kill people so, despite withdrawing his name from the movie, they decided to revoke his refugee status, serving him with a letter to that effect within days after the movie was released - in the U.S.

The Spaniards are running scared because it usually takes 6 months to process the cancellation of refugee status. Imran has been told by the Interior Ministry that he is a threat to Spain's national security and that he was inciting violence against Spain both at home and abroad.

Imran Firasat told the IBTimes UK that "They [Spanish authorities] are trying to send a message to the Muslim world that Spain will take action against all those who criticise Muhammad. Criticising Islam and exposing Muhammad are not anymore part of freedom of expression. Muslims can kill Christians, burn European flags and insult Christ. But we can't even speak the truth about Islam."

M.A. Khan at Islam Watch reports:

Imran Firasat, who feels open examination of Islam is necessary for liberty and democracy to survive in the West amidst its burgeoning Muslim populations, says that he wants to criticize Islam, but without instigating violence among Muslims to avoid vandalism, destructions and deaths.

Imran Firasat CartoonAnd his movie, despite being on Youtube for over three weeks and watched by over fifty thousand people, hasn't created any controversy, criticism or violence whatsoever [yet]. Even then, the decision of the Spanish government to serve Imran Firasat with deportation papers clearly shows how much fear Muslims have stricken into the hearts of Western nations. This is nothing but Muslims' perfect enactment of Allah's divine commandment for striking terror into the heart of the unbelievers in the following verses:

    • Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah… (3:151)
    • "…I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger... (8:12-13)
    • Let not the unbelievers think that they can get the better (of the godly): they will never frustrate (them). Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah…. (8:59-60)

Imran Firasat, who has been struggling with financial difficulties, especially after making this movie - which not only ate up all of savings but he also had to take a loan - has one month to defend himself in Court, failing which he may be put on a plane to Pakistan.

Freedom of speech is clearly not an Islamic value.  That's certainly what the Spanish Government thinks and they are right.  But they are showing cowardice by giving in to the Muslims.  And the moderate Muslims are showing they are wimps (or worse) for not speaking up on this.  Seems "moderate" Mulsims don't agree with free speech either.
