One of the claims made by Christians is that they run organizations that help other people - they do a lot of good work with their money and their time. Unfortunately, a lot of their effort is often wasted trying to convert heathens. While there are good non-religious organizations like Doctors without Borders, up till now there was not a readily accessible atheist charity managing group. With the launching of Foundation beyond Belief yesterday, atheists now have a vehicle to help them make donations to good causes - and there are 10 different "causes". They also want to help atheist/humanist parents bring up their children in a non-religious way so will provide educational assistance.
Their mission statement is:
Foundation Beyond Belief is a new non-profit charitable and educational foundation created (1) to focus, encourage and demonstrate humanistic generosity, and (2) to provide a comprehensive education and support program for humanist parents.
