Saudis also intolerant in their own schools

Recently, the BBC program Panorama unearthed the fact that Islamic schools in England are teaching prejudice and hatred to their children. Hopefully in England that can be remedied - it is after all a free democratic country which values tolerance. It was reported that the text books used are produced in Saudi but overlooked in the report was the fact that this means that Saudi children are all being taught the same thing. That is, Jews are said to be monkeys and pigs and they conspire for world domination; the proper Sharia punishment for theft is the amputation of a hand for first-time offenders and the chopping off of a foot for repeat offenders. The text books discuss the various schools of thought on the religiously correct execution of homosexuals and whether death should come by stoning, burning or throwing the person off a cliff.
The Saudis deny any connection yet an item in the UK Guardian tells a different story. Ali al-Ahmed has a good knowledge of Saudi and their education system. He says: "The primary goal of Saudi education is to maintain the rule of absolute monarchy by casting it as the ordained protector of the faith, and that Islam is at war with other faiths and cultures. That's what the Saudi monarchy calls 'intellectual security,' maintained yet further by a ban on liberal arts education, philosophy, drama, and music."
Further, the Saudi text books teach their young people that: "murder is the intentional killing of 'protected souls.' These are free Muslims (not slaves) and non-Muslims who travel to Muslim countries by invitation of Muslim hosts. The rest are not deserving of the status of a 'protected soul'."
As Ali says: "If this is not license to kill the majority of the world's population, I am not sure what is."
We know that Osama bin Laden came from Saudi and that much of the world's terrorism originates there yet the Saudis are still teaching hatred and intolerance to their children and have no intention of changing their ways. Put yourself in the shoes of the ruling monarchy in Saudi. You have lots of money from oil, you have lots of power and you can keep everyone under your thumb by convincing them the western world is at war with you - even though there is no visible sign. Why would you change anything? All you need to do is to act cool and try to keep unruly neighbours like Iran under control by aiming their hatred at America. Seems to me that they are following this simple formula and doing it well. Too bad it means the end of the world as we know it if they succeed.

Saudi hate texts exported to the rest of the world
The textbooks described above are the subject of a report published by the Hudson Institute's Center for Religious Freedom. (Download here) The report underlines the fact that they are used to teach Muslims around the world that Christians are "swine" and Jews as "apes." The texts are exported with millions of copies to Muslim countries around the world

Charles Lewis in the National Post wrote about this subject and quoted the director of the Hudson Institute Nina Shea as saying:
"Because of the Saudis' great oil wealth, it is able to disseminate its textbooks far and wide," she wrote in the report, Ten Years On.
"[These textbooks] are posted on the Saudi Education Ministry's website and are shipped and distributed free by a vast Saudi-sponsored Sunni infrastructure to many Muslim schools, mosques and libraries throughout the world.
"This is not just hate mongering, it's promoting violence," she said in an interview. It is exporting terrorism through textbooks. More here.
